Pandemic: On the Brink is an expansion to our popular cooperative game, Pandemic, wherein players take on roles to work together to fnd cures to 4 diseases.
In this expansion you will find six new roles (plus 1 revised OpEx and a Bio-Terroritst), eight new special events, and several challenge kits to be added to the basic game play.
Virulent Strain challenge: makes one disease become particularly deadly in unpredictable ways.
Mutation Challenge: adds a fifth (purple) disease that behaves differently than the original four.
Bio-Terrorist Challenge: pits one player against the others!
You may also play with 5 players and play on Legendary level!

Pandemic: On the Brink. GFBR Review: On the Brink kicks up both the variety and the difficulty of Pandemic. If the game starts to feel samey, this is an excellent way to keep it fresh.
--Nov2009-- I've only tried a couple of the expansion ideas so far, but it was quite amusing. We went with the purple mutation cubes: easy to cure - but if one uses the wrong cards to do so? We drew roles randomly from the combined pool, and only ended up with one new one: the Archivist. Daughter #1 was pleased with that selection, so a success all around.
This is really a fantastic expansion. Even if you still love the base game, there's no reason not to play with the additional role cards. It includes petri dishes for disease cube storage which is (a) thematically awesome, and (b) way more convenient than the baggies the base game comes with. While I'm not a huge fan of the Bio-Terrorist addition, the Virulent Strain and Mutation expansions are both great fun. Highly recommended!
I really enjoy expansions that add multiple little additions. This expansion is very good, not only are the physical components a great addition - the dishes, the new figures, the new research stations. But the various expansion elements are also great.
