Game Summary

In Tales of the Arabian Nights, you are the hero or heroine in a story of adventure and wonder just like those told by Scheherazade to her spellbound sultan! You will travel the land seeking your own destiny and fortune. You will learn stories and gain wisdom to share with others. Will you be the first to fulfill your destiny? The next Tale is yours to tell! There is, of course, a winner in Tales of the Arabian Nights, but the point of the game is less to see who wins and more to enjoy the unfolding and telling of a great story!

In this new edition of the groundbreaking storytelling game, you enter the lands of the Arabian Nights alongside Sindbad, Ali Baba, and the other legendary heroes of the tales. Travel the world encountering imprisoned princesses, powerful 'efreets, evil viziers, and such marvels as the Magnetic Mountain and the fabled Elephant's Graveyard. Choose your actions carefully and the skills you possess will reward you: become beloved, wealthy, mighty - even become sultan of a great land. Choose foolishly, however, and become a beggar, or be cursed with a beast's form or become insane from terror! YOU will bring to life the stories of the inestimable Book of Tales in this vastly replayable board game with over 2002 tales that will challenge, amuse, astound and spellbind you for years to come.

5 + 4Featured ReviewerShannon AppelclineTales of the Arabian Nights. The original was a true classic from the golden age of RPGs, while this new Z-Man edition is even better: beautifully produced and with more Tales.
4 + 4Staff ReviewerMVercantTales of the Arabian Nights. A storytelling toy (not a game, really) with all the trappings of an RPG and none of the hassle, but not much strategy (okay, there's none).
4 + 2superhawkTales of the Arabian Nights. Beautiful game that is more like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book than a game.

Do not even try to win this game. Just have fun watching your character succeed or fail regardless of what you pick. It's a choose-your-own-ending book.

Magnificently produced with excellent and evocatve art. What an amusing game this is to play. If you like control in your games, keep looking, but if you like zany stories and fun situations - this is a real gem. Great stuff.

Such fun! Took a bit to figure out, but the flow seems obvious now. Great way to spend an evening.

Traded in my old D&D stuff for store credit. They had this listed for $60 plus 15% off.

This one just doesn't quite seem to take flight. To its credit the stories are fun and it's a very social game, and it fills a niche in the gaming genre. But the sum of the parts seems to just add up to the sum of the parts, and that's a shame. A lot of work went into this one and I can't quite put my finger on why it doesn't do more.
