Game Summary
This card game is set in Rome after the Great Fire of 64 A.D. Players compete by playing cards, thereby completing new structures for the emperor or selling building materials for a profit. Each card can be used for different things: clientele, influence, building goods, or money. The player with the most wealth and power at the end of the game is the winner.

3 + 5Featured ReviewertomvaselGlory to Rome. A fascinating, role selection game in which players rebuild Rome. This independent card game is fairly complex, but offers some great options and variety. An excellent game.
4 + 4Featured ReviewerShannon AppelclineGlory to Rome. A series & strategic card game in the manner of San Juan. It's a bit complex but allows for some good gameplay.
4 + 5Featured ReviewertomvaselGlory to Rome, I.V Edition. I recommended that players get the game when it first came out; I doubly push that recommendation now. The components are drastically improved, the rules more so, and the entire game plays in a tight, engaging fashion. Don't put off checking out this deep, strategic card game - a tremendous value for the price.

Wonderful strategy. The number of choices are greater than Race for the Galaxy and seems to be a deeper game.

--Nov2008-- After one play, really very amusing. I can't tell whether I'll like it in the long term or it simply has a lot of moving parts and it's needs a bit more investigation.

I have to be honest and say that my first and only game of this was played when I was extremely tired. Despite this I enjoyed it immensely. I like the various aspects of the 'home' card or whateevr it is, and the mechanics worked well - it is easy to see why people like the game.

Butt ugly production of an otherwise interesting game. The 'box' claims this is steeped in strategy but it seems too chaotic to make that claim. Yes you do have tactical and strategic choices but to say you have enough control to make for deeper strategy is reaching a bit too far. This game cries out for DIY replacement components as the cheap component decisions make for overly fiddly mechanics that could with a little more production design consideration be made ...
